Theis Speaks At Michigan March For Life At Capitol

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Lana Theis spoke at the annual March for Life event on the steps of the state Capitol on Wednesday.

The event, hosted by Right to Life of Ingham County, is an opportunity for pro-life residents to publicly demonstrate their support of the dignity of human life.

“I believe every human life, including and especially the pre-born, is a gift from God that has dignity and value and is worth protecting,” said Theis, R-Brighton. “We have an obligation to ensure the health and well-being of every child, and I am committed to doing what I can to ensure that we do.”

Theis has been an ardent advocate for pro-life legislation throughout her career.

She most recently introduced a bill that would ban targeted abortions seeking to end the lives of pre-born children because of inherent characteristics, such as a fetal disability or not being parents’ preferred gender.

She also sponsored a resolution last year affirming the right to life of every pre-born child in the state and calling for the enforcement of all laws regulating or limiting the practice of abortion.

Last session, the senator introduced legislation to strengthen the Born Alive Infant Protection Act to ensure the same standards of care for infants who survive an abortion as other infants who are born alive in Michigan.
